Meet the Maker - Cathy

She’s the warm heart and witty brain behind Artfully Unique Gifts - a solo force of handmade magic operating out of a studio that's basically the textile version of a five-star spa. With over 30 years of crafting under her belt and probably a crochet hook in her hand, she turns yarn, denim, and thread into cozy, compliment-worthy treasures.

Cathy’s mission? To banish the “frumpy handmade” myth and replace it with high-quality, stylish keepsakes that make customers feel seen, special, and maybe even a little smug when their friends ask, “Where’d you get that?!”

She’s all heart and hustle — designing dreamy products with joy, while wrestling the less-fun beasts of online business like SEO, admin tasks, and Shopify gremlins. I was 12 when my at Great Aunt taught me to crochet.  I loved the thought of making something with my own two hands; the feel of the yarn in my hands and the many colors.  My Aunt showed me some of the lovely and very old needlework that was passed down from our ancestors many years before.  I’ve been crocheting on and off over many years since then, and I still love the feel of the yarn running through my fingers, and all the beautiful and colorful fabrics I sew.

As I create, I often think of the person who may end up with the product and try to add my good thoughts and good vibrations into my work hoping some of it is retained there as part of me bringing something good to you! I hope you love my work and pass it on through the generations of your family like we have done in mine.
